Hustler OEM 114133 Deck Idler Guide Arm

 

The Hustler 114133 Mower Deck Idler Guide Arm serves as the guide, tensioner and mount for the Idler Pulley and Primary OR Lower Mower Deck Belt on your Mower’s Cutting Deck. Its purpose is to maintain correct belt tension and allow smooth idler movement as the Deck Belt Cycles through Operation. Proper belt tension prevents slippage, reduces wear on Pulleys and Belts, and Preserves cutting quality. This slide works with the Mower Deck Idler Spring and Pulley assembly allowing movement which enables load and tension forgiveness and ensure long, trouble-free life of the drive belt system.

 

Note: Rear Discharge Models Will Use Two Idler Pulley Tensioner Systems - Mower Deck Idler Slide Arm 114133 will Be Used on the Primary Belt (Which Travels from the Engine to Select Lower Mower Deck Pulleys) Whereas its Partner 114105 Idler Guide Slide Will Be Used on the Secondary Mower Deck Which Will Travel on Between the Upper Pulleys on the Mower Deck. Need to Find the Other Pulley Tensioner System Refer to 114105.

1. 704759 - Spacer Washer - Used under 113144 to Shim it Up Above the Mower Deck Shell - Enabling Free Rotation.
2. 109549 - Center Steel Pivot Bushing - Inserts into 770867 Plastic Bushing and Enable Arm 113144 to be Retained and Allows it to Pivot By being the Center Stationary Pieces.
3. 770867 - Plastic Insert Bushings - Wear Item Inserts into Arm 113144 and Over Center Piot Bushing 109549.
4. 767962 - Support Washer - Used Against the Inner Pivot Bushing 109549 and supports the retaining Nut 781567 in Retaining the 113144 Idler Arm.
5. 781567 - Nut - Used to retain 113144 Idler Arm (1/2 - 13).
6. 601779 - Rotational Tensioner Arm Slide/Wear Pads (UHMW) - Enables 113144 Idler Arm Guide to travel through it and eliminates it from Traveling and Wearing Across the Mower Deck Shell. 

 

 

Installation Directions

 

1. Park mower on a **flat, level surface**. Engage parking brake and shut off engine.
2. Disconnect spark plug wire to prevent accidental start.
3. Lower the Mower Deck to access the idler assembly 
4. Locate the existing Idler Guide Arm on the Mower Deck where the idler pulley and spring mount.
5. Remove belt from the idler pulley by relieving tension between the Idler Pulley and the Mower Deck Belt Via the Chain Used to Retain Tension.
6. Raise the Mower Deck - May Need to raise the front of the mower or drive it onto a set of Ramps be Sure to Use Safety Jack Stands to Prevent Injuries - Using a Scraper of Some Type clean the grass away from the fasteners on the bottom side of the Mower Deck.
7. Remove worn or damaged deck Idler Guide Arm (114133) by loosening and Removing the Center Pivot Fastener Bolt & Nut. Retain hardware if re-using.
8. Inspect associated components - Idler Pulley, Spring, UHMW wear pads/rails, Plastic Insert Bushings, Center Steel Pivot Bushing and Hardware (UHMW Wear Pad/Rails and Plastic Insert Bushings are the Wearable Component of the Slide and are Recommended to be Replaced if Replacing the Slide) - replacing as needed.
9. Install the new 114133 Guide Slide in original orientation. Torque fasteners per factory spec (see service manual for torque values).
10. If you Raised the Front of the Mower, Lower it at This time.
11. Reposition Idler Pulley and Spring onto the Idler Arm. 
12. Reinstall Belt over the Pulley or Pulleys and verify proper Belt seating on all Pulleys.
13. Tension Belt Via the Spring and Chain using the recommended Spring Measurements. 
14. Raise Deck and Reconnect Spark Plug Wire.
15. Perform a test run - verify smooth Idler travel and correct Deck Belt operation - Visually Recheck Mower Deck Belt to Unsure that it Remained in Correct Alignment after Operation. 

 

 

Spring Measurement & Belt Tension Notes

 

For correct Mower Deck Belt tension, Hustler X-ONE (Select Early Rear Discharge Models Only), Super Z, Super Z HD, Super ATZ, Diesel Z (Rear Discharge Models) that Contain an Adjustable 21 Link Chain and 781302 Tension Spring Combination Require a Spring Adjustment Measurement of 9.3in. - 10.0 in. **spring measurement from outside hook to outside hook**. Review the Image Below for example of Measurement. (For Additional Spring Measurement Length Refer to manufacturer notes in Mower Deck Belt routing section of Service Manual).

 

 

 

Installation Tips & Best Practices

 

• Always route the deck belt as shown in your mower’s owner or service manual before installing the idler slide (For Additional Mower Deck Belt References on Correct Mower Deck Belt Routing, refer to the Images under Correct Mower Deck Belt Part Number for your Particular Model on Hilly Ridge Website - Correct Part Number Can be Found on Hilly Ridge Website by Typing Part Number in the Search tab or Typing Mower Deck Belt for Model ----- in the Search Tab).
• Inspect all Pulleys for smooth rotation and replace if they Wobble Excessively or the Bearings Seem Rough.
• Use proper Belt tension measurement (spring length and pulley travel) to avoid belt slip under load.
• Apply Small Amount of Grease or Lubricant to the Idler Guide Arm and UHMW Rail While Re-assembling.
