The Hustler OEM Rotational Idler Slide Wear Pads 601779, Made from a Tough Poly-Type of material, eliminates the wear from metal on metal as well as Eliminating Possible Binding of the Rotational Tensioner Rail Arm which would resulting in Kicking Belts or Excessive Belt Flap causing Pre-Mature Mower Deck Belt Wear, Broken Belt or Belt Continually Jumping off the Pulley's. This Design is exclusive to Select Hustler Models and Allows for your belt to have a large range of back-and-forth motion from Mower Belt Slap as well as the added benefit of inexpensive replacement Parts to be replaced versus replacing larger expensive part from unnecessary wear. 

 

 

Note: Rear Discharge Super Z, Super Z HD, Diesel Z Models Will Use Two Idler Pulley Tensioner Systems - Mower Deck Idler Slide Arm 114133 will Be Used on the Primary Belt (Which Travels from the Engine to Select Lower Mower Deck Pulleys) - Correct UHMW Idler Rail Slides/Wear Pads would Be 601619. Its Partner 114105 Idler Guide Slide Will Be Used on the Secondary Mower Deck Which Will Travel on Between the Upper Pulleys on the Mower Deck - Correct UHMW Idler Rail Slides/Wear Pads would be 601779.

Installation Directions

 

1. Park mower on a **flat, level surface**. Engage parking brake and shut off engine.
2. Disconnect spark plug wire to prevent accidental start.
3. Lower the Mower Deck to access the idler assembly 
4. Locate the existing Idler Guide Slide on the Mower Deck where the Idler Pulley and Spring mount.
5. Remove belt from the idler pulley by relieving tension between the Idler Pulley and the Mower Deck Belt Via the Chain (If Applicable - Used to Retain Tension).
6. Remove and Inspect Mower Deck Rotational Idler Guide Arm and Mounting Hardware if Needed (114133, 608418-4, 125668-4). 
7. Raise the Mower Deck - May Need to raise the front of the mower or drive it onto a set of Ramps be Sure to Use Safety Jack Stands to Prevent Injuries - Using a Scraper of Some Type clean the grass away from the fasteners on the bottom side of the Mower Deck.
8. Loosen and Remove the Screw style Fasteners 784199 or 797910 that thread into the 608059 Nuts that Retain the UHMW Rail Slide (* Inspect and replace 784199 Screw Fasteners and 608059 Nut if Worn or Rusty).
9. Lower the Mower Deck and Install the New UHMW Slide Rail Make Sure 784199 Fasteners is from the top of the UHMW Slide Rail and Torque Fasteners to Correct Torque Specification 
10. Inspect associated components like the Idler Pulley, Tension Spring, Mower Deck Guide Slide - replacing as needed
11. If you Raised the Front of the Mower, Lower it at This time.
12. Install the 114133, 608418-4 or 125668-4 Mower Deck Rotational Idler Guide Arm in original orientation.
13. Reposition Idler Pulley and Spring onto the Guide Slide if it was removed. 
14. Reinstall belt over the Pulley or Pulleys and verify proper belt seating on all pulleys.
15. Tension Belt Via the spring and chain (If Applicable - use the recommended Spring Measurements). 
16. Raise deck and reconnect spark plug wire.
17. Perform a test run - verify smooth idler travel and correct deck belt operation - Visually Recheck Mower Deck Belt to Unsure that it Remained in Correct Alignment Position after Operation. 

 

 

Spring Measurement & Belt Tension Notes

 

For correct Mower Deck Belt tension, Hustler X-ONE (Select Early Rear Discharge Models Only), Super Z, Super Z HD, Super ATZ, Diesel Z (Rear Discharge Models) - EXCLUDING SUPER 88 & SUPER SF MODELS - that Contain an Adjustable 21 Link Chain and 781302 Tension Spring Combination Require a Spring Adjustment Measurement of 9.3in. - 10.0 in. **spring measurement from outside hook to outside hook**. Review the Image Below for example of Measurement. (For Additional Spring Measurement Length Refer to manufacturer notes in Mower Deck Belt routing section of Service Manual).

 

 

 

 

Installation Tips & Best Practices

 

• Always route the deck belt as shown in your mower’s owner or service manual before installing the idler slide (For Additional Mower Deck Belt References on Correct Mower Deck Belt Routing, refer to the Images under Correct Mower Deck Belt Part Number for your Particular Model on Hilly Ridge Website - Correct Part Number Can be Found on Hilly Ridge Website by Typing Part Number in the Search tab or Typing Mower Deck Belt for Model ----- in the Search Tab).
• Inspect all pulleys for smooth rotation and replace if they Wobble Excessively or the Bearings Seem Rough.
• Use proper belt tension measurement (spring length and pulley travel) to avoid belt slip under load.
• Apply Small Amount of Grease or Lubricant to the Idler Guide Slide and UHMW Rail While Re-assembling.
