Description
STIHL OEM 3623 005 0066 33 RS RAPID™ Super Chainsaw Chain – 18", 3/8" Pitch, .050" Gauge, 66 Drive Links – Full-Chisel
Experience aggressive, professional-grade cutting performance with the STIHL 33 RS RAPID™ Super Chainsaw Chain. Genuine STIHL OEM part number 3623 005 0066 is an 18" full-chisel saw chain featuring 3/8" (.375") pitch, .050" (1.3 mm) gauge, and 66 drive links. Designed for higher-powered chainsaws, RAPID Super delivers exceptionally fast cutting performance for professional forestry, logging, and demanding woodcutting applications.
The razor-edged, square-cornered full-chisel cutters provide aggressive cutting performance with excellent efficiency in clean wood. STIHL's specially engineered cutter and tie strap design helps reduce vibration while maintaining the fast-cutting characteristics professional operators expect from the RAPID Super series.
Manufactured in Switzerland, this genuine STIHL OEM chain also incorporates STIHL's patented OILOMATIC® lubrication system and factory pre-stretched construction to help reduce chain wear and minimize excessive tension adjustments during break-in.
Chain fitment depends on the specifications of your guide bar and cutting system—not just the chainsaw model or bar length.
Always verify your current chain specifications:
- 18" (45 cm) Bar Length
- 3/8" (.375") Pitch
- .050" (1.3 mm) Gauge
- 66 Drive Links
- STIHL 33 RS / RAPID Super
- Full-Chisel Cutter
- Standard Cutter Sequence
Bar length alone does not guarantee compatibility. STIHL chainsaws may be equipped with different guide bars and cutting systems. Always verify the pitch, gauge, drive-link count, and guide bar specifications before ordering.
Important – Professional Chain: STIHL 33 RS is an aggressive full-chisel chain with reduced-vibration features but no significant kickback-reduction features. It is intended for trained, experienced professional chainsaw operators.
Kickback Safety: STIHL recommends using low-kickback, green-labeled saw chain with green-labeled reduced-kickback guide bars where appropriate for the powerhead and application. Improper use of aggressive cutting chain can increase the risk of serious injury from kickback.
Important: This is a standard 3/8" pitch chain. Do not substitute 3/8" Low Profile (Picco), .325", or other pitch chains. The chain pitch must match the guide bar nose and drive sprocket, and the .050" gauge must match the guide bar groove.
If you're unsure, contact us with your STIHL model number, serial number, guide bar information, and current chain number, and we'll help verify the correct replacement before you order.

What Makes STIHL RAPID Super Different?
The STIHL RAPID Super chain is designed for professional operators who demand maximum cutting speed and efficiency. Its full-chisel cutter design features sharp, square-cornered cutting edges that aggressively remove wood fibers, allowing the chain to cut rapidly through clean wood.
Compared with STIHL RAPID Micro semi-chisel chain, RAPID Super generally provides faster cutting performance under favorable conditions. However, the sharp cutter corners are more sensitive to dirt, sand, and other abrasive materials, making proper maintenance and sharpening especially important.
STIHL's specially engineered cutter and tie strap design helps reduce vibration while preserving the aggressive cutting performance of the full-chisel cutters. This combination makes RAPID Super an excellent choice for professional forestry, logging, and high-production cutting applications.
For best performance, RAPID Super should be used primarily in clean woodcutting conditions. Operators regularly cutting dirty wood, roots, or abrasive materials may benefit from a semi-chisel or carbide chain instead.
STIHL OILOMATIC® Lubrication System
STIHL RAPID Super saw chain incorporates the OILOMATIC® lubricating system. Specially engineered lubrication slots in the drive links help channel bar oil toward the rivets and other critical wear areas while the chain is operating.
Directing lubrication to these high-wear areas helps reduce friction and wear, maximizes the effectiveness of the bar and chain oil, and contributes to longer service life.
The chain is also factory pre-stretched to help reduce excessive chain tension adjustments during the initial break-in period.

Installation & Sharpening Tips
- Shut off the chainsaw and disconnect the spark plug or remove the battery before servicing the cutting attachment.
- Verify that your guide bar requires an 18" chain with 3/8" pitch, .050" gauge, and exactly 66 drive links.
- Do not select this chain based on 18" bar length alone. Pitch, gauge, and drive-link count must all match.
- Confirm that the guide bar groove is designed for .050" (1.3 mm) gauge drive links.
- Make sure the guide bar nose and drive sprocket are compatible with standard 3/8" pitch chain.
- Clean the guide bar groove and oil passages before installing the new chain.
- Inspect the guide bar and drive sprocket for excessive or uneven wear before installing a new chain.
- Install the chain with the cutting edges facing forward across the top of the guide bar.
- Make sure all 66 drive links are properly seated in the guide bar groove and sprocket.
- Adjust chain tension according to the STIHL operator's manual.
- Although the chain is factory pre-stretched, recheck chain tension after initial operation and periodically during use.
- Confirm that the OILOMATIC® lubrication system is receiving an adequate supply of clean bar and chain oil.
- Use a 5.2 mm (13/64") round file when hand-sharpening this chain.
- Maintain the proper sharpening angle, file position, and depth gauge settings according to STIHL's sharpening instructions.
- Keep cutter lengths consistent on both sides of the chain to maintain straight, smooth cutting.
- Full-chisel cutters are sensitive to dirt, sand, and abrasive materials. Avoid ground contact and clean contaminated wood whenever possible.
- Inspect cutters regularly for dullness, damage, or chipped cutting corners.
- Sharpen the chain promptly when cutting performance decreases or the saw begins producing fine sawdust instead of normal wood chips.
- Professional Safety: This chain does not incorporate significant kickback-reduction features and should be used only by trained, experienced operators following the chainsaw manufacturer's safety instructions.
