Description
STIHL OEM 3650 005 0084 33 RM RAPID™ Micro™ Chainsaw Chain – 24", 3/8" Pitch, .050" Gauge, 84 Drive Links – Semi-Chisel
Get dependable cutting performance and excellent durability with the STIHL 33 RM RAPID™ Micro™ Chainsaw Chain. Genuine STIHL OEM part number 3650 005 0084 is a 24" semi-chisel saw chain featuring 3/8" (.375") pitch, .050" (1.3 mm) gauge, and 84 drive links. Designed for compatible medium- to high-powered chainsaws, RAPID Micro delivers smooth, consistent cutting performance with reduced vibration and excellent edge retention during demanding professional woodcutting applications.
Unlike aggressive full-chisel chains, STIHL RAPID Micro features rounded-corner semi-chisel cutters that are more forgiving in challenging cutting conditions. The rounded cutter design typically maintains its cutting edge longer than full-chisel chain when exposed to minor dirt and abrasive materials, reducing sharpening frequency and making routine maintenance easier.
STIHL RAPID Micro is a taller-profile chain designed for larger-displacement chainsaws. Its reduced-vibration construction helps improve operator comfort during extended cutting sessions, while the STIHL OILOMATIC® lubrication system helps deliver oil to critical chain components to reduce friction and wear.
Ideal for professional forestry, agriculture, construction, firewood cutting, and property maintenance, STIHL 33 RM offers a dependable balance of cutting performance, durability, and ease of maintenance. The 24" configuration provides additional cutting reach and capacity when used on a chainsaw approved for this guide bar length.
Chainsaw chain compatibility depends on the specifications of your guide bar and cutting system—not simply the chainsaw model or bar length.
Always verify your current chain specifications:
- 24" (60 cm) Bar Length
- 3/8" (.375") Pitch
- .050" (1.3 mm) Gauge
- 84 Drive Links
- STIHL 33 RM / RAPID Micro
- Semi-Chisel / Rounded-Tooth Cutters
- 30° Sharpening Angle
- 13/64" (5.2 mm) Recommended Round File
Bar length alone does not guarantee compatibility. Different guide bars may require different drive-link counts, pitches, or gauges, even when installed on the same chainsaw model.
Important – Yellow-Label Chain: STIHL 33 RM is a yellow-labeled chain without low-kickback safety-link features. It should not be represented as a reduced-kickback or green-labeled chain. This chain is intended for operators familiar with proper chainsaw handling and kickback prevention.
Kickback Safety: STIHL recommends using low-kickback, green-labeled chains with green-labeled reduced-kickback guide bars wherever appropriate. Yellow-labeled chains may present increased kickback risk and require proper training, protective equipment, and safe operating practices.
Important: This is standard 3/8" pitch chain, not 3/8" Low Profile (Picco). The chain pitch must match the drive sprocket and guide bar nose, and the .050" gauge must match the guide bar groove.
Long-Bar Warning: A 24" guide bar requires a chainsaw with sufficient power, proper chain lubrication, and manufacturer approval for the bar length. Not every chainsaw designed for standard 3/8" pitch chain is suitable for a 24" cutting attachment.
If you're unsure, contact us with your STIHL chainsaw model, serial number, guide bar information, and current chain number. We'll help verify the correct replacement before you order.

What Makes STIHL RAPID Micro Different?
STIHL RAPID Micro is engineered for operators who want dependable cutting performance with improved durability and easier maintenance compared with aggressive full-chisel chains. Its semi-chisel cutter design features rounded cutting corners that provide smooth, consistent cutting performance in a wide variety of woodcutting applications.
Longer-Lasting Cutting Edge: Compared with full-chisel chain, the rounded cutter design of RAPID Micro is generally more resistant to dulling when exposed to minor dirt, bark contamination, and abrasive materials. This makes it an excellent option for everyday professional cutting where maximum cutting speed is not the only priority.
Reduced-Vibration Design: STIHL RAPID Micro incorporates low-vibration chain construction to help reduce vibration transmitted during cutting. Lower vibration levels can improve operator comfort and help reduce fatigue during extended use.
Professional Performance: RAPID Micro is a taller-profile chain with more mass than low-profile cutting systems, making it suitable for larger-displacement engines and demanding applications such as felling, bucking, and limbing.
Although RAPID Micro generally cuts less aggressively than STIHL RAPID Super full-chisel chain, it offers an excellent combination of durability, cutting consistency, and ease of sharpening.
STIHL OILOMATIC® Lubrication System
STIHL RAPID Micro chains feature the OILOMATIC® lubrication system, designed to distribute bar and chain oil to critical wear points throughout the cutting system.
Specially engineered lubrication slots in the drive links help direct oil toward the chain rivets and other high-friction areas. Proper lubrication reduces wear, minimizes friction, and helps extend the service life of the saw chain and guide bar.
STIHL chains are also factory pre-stretched to help minimize excessive chain tension adjustments during the initial break-in period.
Fits Saw Systems Using These Chain Specifications
Required Chain Specifications: 24" Bar, 3/8" Pitch, .050" Gauge, 84 Drive Links
This chain is designed for compatible chainsaws equipped with a guide bar and drive sprocket system requiring standard 3/8" pitch, .050" (1.3 mm) gauge, and exactly 84 drive links.
STIHL 33 RM is intended for compatible medium- to high-powered chainsaws approved for standard 3/8" pitch cutting attachments and a 24" guide bar.
Important: Chainsaws may be equipped with different guide bars, sprockets, and chain configurations depending on the model and application. Not every chainsaw that uses 3/8" pitch chain is approved for a 24" guide bar. Always verify the specifications stamped on the guide bar and compare them with the existing chain before ordering.
Do not substitute this chain for 3/8" Picco, .325", or other chain configurations. Confirm that your chainsaw and guide bar are approved for this yellow-labeled chain.

Installation & Sharpening Tips
- Shut off the chainsaw and disconnect the spark plug or remove the battery before servicing the cutting attachment.
- Verify that your guide bar requires a 24" chain with 3/8" pitch, .050" gauge, and exactly 84 drive links.
- Do not select this chain based on 24" bar length alone. Pitch, gauge, and drive-link count must all match.
- Confirm that the chainsaw manufacturer approves the use of a 24" guide bar on your model.
- Confirm that the guide bar groove is designed for .050" (1.3 mm) gauge drive links.
- Make sure the guide bar nose and drive sprocket are compatible with standard 3/8" pitch chain.
- Clean the guide bar groove and oil passages before installing the new chain.
- Inspect the guide bar and drive sprocket for excessive or uneven wear before installing a new chain.
- Install the chain with the cutting edges facing forward across the top of the guide bar.
- Make sure all 84 drive links are properly seated in the guide bar groove and sprocket.
- Adjust chain tension according to the STIHL operator's manual.
- Although the chain is factory pre-stretched, recheck chain tension after initial operation and periodically during use.
- Confirm that the OILOMATIC® lubrication system is receiving an adequate supply of clean bar and chain oil. Longer guide bars require particular attention to proper lubrication.
- Use a 13/64" (5.2 mm) round file when hand-sharpening this chain.
- Maintain the recommended 30° sharpening angle for consistent cutting performance.
- Follow STIHL's sharpening instructions for proper file positioning, cutter geometry, and depth gauge settings.
- Keep cutter lengths consistent on both sides of the chain to help maintain straight cutting.
- Semi-chisel cutters are more tolerant of minor abrasive contamination than full-chisel cutters, but contact with dirt, rocks, and metal should still be avoided.
- Inspect cutters regularly for dullness, damage, or excessive wear.
- Sharpen the chain when cutting performance decreases or the saw begins producing fine sawdust instead of normal wood chips.
- Kickback Safety: This yellow-labeled chain does not incorporate low-kickback safety-link features. Follow all manufacturer safety instructions and use appropriate protective equipment.
