Installation Tips
- Always work with the engine off and the spark plug wire disconnected to prevent accidental starting.
- Tip the unit back carefully so you can access the scraper bar and spring underneath the front of the housing.
- Note the original spring routing and hook locations before removal; take a quick photo for reference if needed.
- Inspect the scraper bar and mounting hardware; replace any excessively worn or bent components before installing the new spring.
- Use pliers or a spring tool to safely unhook the old spring and attach the new one, keeping hands clear of pinch points.
- Confirm the scraper bar moves into a tight, even contact with the ground and that the spring is not twisted or rubbing on other parts.
- After installation, roll the unit on a flat surface and check for even scraping across the width of the housing.
