Recommended Additional Parts
When this spring is worn or broken, other scraper and wear items are often due for replacement as well. Consider adding these related parts (specific part numbers depend on your exact model and serial range):
- Scraper bar / scraper blade
- Rubber paddles / rotor blades and paddle hardware kit
- Skid shoes or side wear plates (if equipped)
- Rotor drive belt
- Shear pins or shear bolts (for compatible units)
- Engine maintenance items: spark plug, fresh 5W-30 winter engine oil, and fuel stabilizer
Installation Tips
- Always work with the engine off and the spark plug wire disconnected to prevent accidental starting.
- Tip the unit back carefully so you can access the scraper bar and spring underneath the front of the housing.
- Inspect the scraper bar and mounting hardware; replace any excessively worn or bent components before installing the new spring.
- Note the original spring routing and hook locations before removal; take a quick photo for reference if needed.
- Use pliers or a spring tool to safely unhook the old spring and attach the new one, keeping hands clear of pinch points.
- Confirm the scraper bar moves into a tight, even contact with the ground and that the spring is not twisted or rubbing on other parts.
- After installation, roll the unit on a flat surface and check for even scraping across the width of the housing.
