Installation Tips (Chute Deflector Replacement)

  • Safety first: Engine OFF, key removed and disconnect the spark plug wire before working near the chute/impeller area.
  • Visual Documentation: Raise the deflector and note the spring orientation before disassembly (a quick phone photo helps).
  • Set the deflector mid-range so spring tension is manageable.
  • Disconnect the control rod (Rod-Deflector) from the deflector to free the assembly.
  • Transfer/inspect the torsion spring: replace if stretched, broken, or missing; confirm correct spring “clocking” so the deflector returns and holds position.
  • Install the new deflector: reassemble spring and rod.
  • Cycle the deflector full up/down: confirm it holds position and does not bind.
