Description
Toro OEM 114-3790 Chute Deflector Seal
Keep your Toro discharge chute deflector sealing correctly with the genuine Toro 114-3790 Seal-Deflector. This seal sits at the chute deflector area and helps close the gap where snow can otherwise “mist” or blow back at the operator—especially when the deflector is set lower for short-throw and close work.

Replacement Directions (Service-Friendly Steps)
- Safety first: Shut engine OFF, let all moving parts stop, and disconnect the Spark Plug wire or Battery.
- Visual Documentation: Raise the deflector and note the spring orientation before disassembly (a quick phone photo helps).
- Access the deflector area: Rotate/position the chute so you can comfortably reach the deflector/hinge location.
- Inspect before disassembly: Confirm the issue is the seal (torn/missing) and not a cracked deflector hinge or stripped fasteners.
- Remove the deflector hardware as needed: Depending on your exact model/serial range, you may need to remove the hinge fastener(s) and/or hinge pin to free the deflector enough to swap the seal. *If Removing the Chute Deflector Pivot Pin and the Pivot Pin's Retaining Ring be Sure to Replace the Retaining Ring 104-8310.
- Clean the mating surfaces: Remove packed snow/ice and wipe the area clean - seals won’t sit correctly on debris.
- Install the new 114-3790 seal: Seat it fully and evenly so it lays flat and seals across the deflector opening.
- Reassemble: Reinstall hardware. Tighten fasteners snug—do not overtighten into plastic (stripped holes and cracked parts are common when over-torqued).
- Function test: Cycle the deflector through its full range. Make sure it holds position and doesn’t bind, then reconnect the spark plug wire or Battery.
Pro Install Tips
- If the deflector still won’t hold position after seal replacement, inspect the hinge-ratchet (108-4942).
- If hardware is rusty or the head strips during removal, replace the fasteners rather than reusing them.
- If the chute or deflector mounting holes are cracked/egg-shaped, the seal won’t stay aligned—consider replacing the damaged plastic component(s).
